A Paperless Checkbook
Your Visa DebitCard is easy to use. Instead of writing checks or using cash for your purchases, just use your Visa DebitCard. The most important thing to remember is that all purchases will be deducted from your Priority One checking account.

You can use your Visa DebitCard just about anywhere, including: gas stations, grocery stores, retail stores, restaurants, Internet shopping, shopping by phone, ATMs, travel agencies and fast food chains.

Using Your Visa DebitCard at a Point-of-Sale Terminal
  • Swipe your card.

  • Choose the "CREDIT" option when you do not want cash back—the amount will be deducted from your checking account and you will not be required to enter your PIN (Personal Identification Number).

  • Choose the "DEBIT" option if you want cash back—the amount will still be deducted from your checking account but you will need to enter your Personal Identification Number (PIN) for these transactions.

  • Sign the receipt and retain your copy.

Using Your Visa DebitCard Without a Point-of-Sale Terminal
  • Present the card to the merchant.

  • Sign your receipt and retain your copy.

Using Your Visa DebitCard at an ATM
  • Use it at any Priority One ATM, or ATMs displaying the STAR®, CO-OP® or PLUS® symbol to access your Priority One accounts.

  • Use it at any VISA ATM without incurring cash advance fees, since the money comes directly out of your checking account (if funds are available) instead of a VISA line of credit.

  • Put your card into the ATM.

  • Enter your "new" PIN when prompted (you will receive this in the mail separately from your new Visa DebitCard).

  • Retain your receipt.

Reconciling Your Transactions
  • Enter your transactions in your checkbook regularly.

  • Retain all receipts to compare with your monthly checking account statement.

  • Keep your receipts with the corresponding monthly checking account statement.

  • Report any discrepancies to the credit union by
    calling (626) 441-1999.
